Adelphi University

Adelphi University, nestled in Garden City, New York, boasts a captivating history stretching back to its origins as Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn in 1863. This institution laid the groundwork for what would become a pioneering liberal arts college. In 1896, Adelphi College officially received its charter, marking it as one of the very first coeducational institutions chartered by the State of New York—a testament to its forward-thinking vision from the outset, beginning with a modest 57 students and 16 instructors.

The early days saw a rapid evolution, with Adelphi initially transforming into a women's college in 1912, demonstrating an adaptability to societal needs.
