College of the Canyons (COC) stands as a dynamic public community college, proudly upholding its motto, "Start here. Go anywhere." With a vibrant student body of 37,182, COC is a cornerstone of accessible education, offering diverse pathways for students aiming to transfer to four-year universities, gain valuable career skills, or simply explore their academic interests.

The college's journey began with strong community support, as local voters approved its formation in 1967. It officially opened its doors in 1969, initially operating from temporary facilities. This early start quickly laid the groundwork for future growth, demonstrating a clear commitment to providing quality higher education to the region.

By 1970, College of the Canyons had secured its permanent home, purchasing a dedicated campus site along Interstate 5 in Valencia. The move to this new location, even initially into modular buildings while permanent facilities were under construction, marked a significant milestone. It solidified COC's physical presence and its dedication to building a lasting educational institution for its growing student population.
