Independence Community College

Independence Community College (ICC) stands as a dynamic public community college, renowned for its commitment to accessible education and practical skill development. With a vibrant student body of 821, ICC offers a supportive environment where students can pursue academic excellence and prepare for successful careers. The college gained national recognition as the featured institution in seasons 3 and 4 of the Netflix hit series, "Last Chance U," showcasing its dedication to student potential both on and off the field.

ICC's rich history dates back to 1925, when it began as an integral part of the Independence public school system. Demonstrating its growth and independence, the college legally separated in 1967, paving the way for the development of its modern 68-acre campus. What started as the Independence Country Club transformed into a comprehensive educational hub, with classes commencing at the new site in 1970. This evolution continued with the significant addition of the West Campus in 2010, further expanding its reach and specialized offerings within the community.
